Pope: We Should Not Be Afraid of Offering What the Holy Spirit Gives Us

June 06, 2018. Also Reminds Arabic-speaking Pilgrims Importance of Living Holy Lives

We should not be afraid or hesitate to offer what the Holy Spirit gives us.

Pope Francis encouraged Arabic-speaking Christians, especially those from the Holy Land, Egypt and the Middle East present in St. Peter’s Square, to do so during today’s General Audience of Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

After his catechesis on Confirmation, the Pope said: ‘Dear brothers and sisters, No one receives the sacrament of Confirmation only for themselves, but to participate in the spiritual growth of the others.”

“The Gifts of God are granted to us so that we give them to others, so that they grow through sharing and allows egoism to dissipate.”

“Therefore, we should not be afraid to offer that which we receive continually from the Holy Spirit through witnessing with a holy life and spreading the perfume of His living Word among our brothers and sisters.”

Pope Francis concluded, saying: “May the Lord bless you all and protect you from evil!”
